JPD Welcomes New Police Officer

The Jackson Police Department is pleased and proud to announce the addition of a veteran law enforcement officer to its ranks.  George Brewster Walker of Fryeburg Maine was sworn in as a part time officer for the Jackson Police Department on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018.  He fills a personnel gap created 2 months ago by the resignation of part time officer Michael Chapman, who now works for the Carroll County Sheriffs Office.  Officer Walker is a 25 year veteran of New Hampshire law enforcement, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant from the Conway Police Department in April of this year.

Along with his experience, Officer Walker has significant training and skill in Emergency Management, police tactics, K-9 operations and community policing efforts.  He was recognized in 2016 as the Law Enforcement Partner of the Year by the New Hampshire Retail Association.  Additionally, Officer Walker is currently a certified A.L.I.C.E. trainer, (active shooter civilian emergency response program).  This lifesaving curriculum is taught to school teachers, municipal workers and private employers who want proven tactics to protect all occupants in the workplace.

After a brief field training orientation by Patrol Officer First Class Ryan McDonald, rule and regulation overview, fitness testing and firearms qualifications, Walker will be available for coverage gaps in patrol.  He currently serves as a Fire Captain for the Fryeburg Fire Department, and works for the Oxford County Emergency Management Office in South Paris Maine.
