The Mountain Garden Club presents Art in Bloom, its Gift to the Valley, on Saturday, July 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Jackson Village. The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to stroll through Jackson Village while enjoying beautiful flowers and works of art. Light refreshments will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Whitney Center. About 40 floral arrangements will be displayed next to a piece of artwork throughout 10 locations in the village. Five of the locations are indoors and five locations are outdoors. While Art in Bloom is designed to be a walking tour, parking is available adjacent to each site. Maps of the various locations are available at each site: Jackson Public Library, River Wood Inn, Ravenwood Gift Shoppe, Snowflake Inn, The Wentworth, Whitney Community Center, Old Jackson Library, Jackson Historical Society, Ellis River Arts Studio, and in front of the Jackson Community Church.
This is the 15th year Art in Bloom has been offered. New this year will be two events: first, there will be demo on designing outdoor flower displays in containers conducted by master gardener, Ginny Kanzler, at 11:30 a.m. at the Whitney Community Center. The three displays she creates will be raffled off at noon in the Whitney Center. Then at 2:30 p.m., there will be a second raffle, held at the Ellis River Arts Studio; that raffle will be a Two-fer, with a gift certificate from both Dutch Bloemen Winkel and Autumn Nomad. To draw attention to the raffle, Mountain Garden Club member Annie Ficke will provide an interpretation of the art of cake decorating referencing a creative piece designed by Autumn Nomad.
