Jackson Voter Information 11/6/18 Election

Jackson voters must be registered in order to cast their votes in the November 6th Midterm Election.  Voting will take place at the Whitney Community Center on that Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM.  A current copy of the voter checklist is posted in the town office.  If you are currently registered and happy with your status, including party affiliation, permanent residence and mailing addresses. you need to do nothing but show up ready to vote at the Whitney Center unless you are requesting an absentee ballot.

For absentee voting, an absentee ballot must be obtained from the Jackson Town Clerk at the Jackson Town Offices prior to the election and returned to the post office for delivery by Nov 6th or returned in person no later than Nov 5th to the town clerk.

Note that registration requires proof of citizenship, age, identity and proof of domicile.  Identity and age can be confirmed by photo IDs such as driver’s license and citizenship by a birth certificate or passport.  Domicile proof requires documentation such as but not limited to showing proof of registering a child in the local school, showing the Jackson address on the back of your NH driver’s license, or written confirmation by landlord, or neighbors

For individuals wishing to either register to vote for the first time or to request changes, there are two ways to accomplish this, based upon time to the election.  Firstly, the voter can obtain a registration form from the Town Clerk in advance of the Checklist Supervisors scheduled meeting on October 26th at 9:00 AM and either return it to the Town Clerk prior to the meeting or bring it in person to the meeting.  The Supervisors will review the registration and once approved, enter the data as requested.

Secondly, after October 26th, registration or changes in status must be made at the polling location on the day of the election.  The Checklist Supervisors will be on site during the polling and will be able to register new voters or approve status changes as required.
