LOCATION: The town transfer site is located just off Route 16 a short distance south of the Jackson Covered Bridge.

As of January 1, 2008. RSA 149-M:58 bans the disposal of mercury-added products at any solid waste landfill, transfer station, recycling facility or incinerator. Homeowners and businesses alike are affected by the ban on such items as thermometers, thermostats, electrical switches, mercury button cell batteries and fluorescent light bulbs, including compact fluorescent bulbs.
Illegal dumping can and will result in a $250.00 fine; including knowingly disposing of a fee item without paying the required fee.
The Town of Jackson provides a solid waste and recycling program to all town residents who have a JACKSON TRANSFER STATION STICKER. TRANSFER STICKERS are free of charge and may be obtained at the Town Offices, 54 Main Street in the center of Jackson.
COMPACTOR - All Household rubbish/ food waste may be deposited in the COMPACTOR (absolutely no Wood, Metals or Tires).
BURN PIT - Items for the BURN PIT include unpainted,untreated lumber and brush no larger than 5 " in diameter. No plywood or particle board. See Attendant before dumping.
YARD WASTE - Brush and Yard waste such as leaves and lawn clippings, please see the attendant.
MANDATORY RECYCLING - Jackson has an active Recycling Program. The following items have a designated area for recycling. Please check with the attendant for location of proper bins.
NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, OFFICE PAPER, OTHER PAPER PRODUCTS, GLASS BOTTLES AND JARS, (washed and without caps), CORRUGATED CARDBOARD, ALUMINUM and OTHER FOOD/ BEVERAGE CANS (rinsed out) VEHICLE BATTERIES, METALS, TIRES, REFRIGERATORS AND AIR CONDITIONERS, FLOURESCENT BULBS, RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES, CELL PHONES, INK CARTRIDGES. Please empty all bags when throwing bottles, magazines, papers etc. in the bins.
WE NOW RECYCLE PLASTICS, AND OTHER FOOD AND BEVERAGE CONTAINERS INCLUDING CANS !! SEE DETAILS BELOW:
COMMINGLED RECYCLING PROGRAM
All food and beverage plastic bottles and containers and steel cans now go into the same container:
The following items go into this container :
Bi-metal cans and empty aerosol cans. ( No pesticide containers).
Tin/Steel cans and all food and beverage cans.
Aseptic containers (i.e.. single serving juice boxes)
All food beverage plastics with recycling number 1-7. These numbers may be found inside the chasing arrows (No automobile or chemical containers.)
GLASS: All glass is in a separate container - see below .
To sum up, if you can eat or drink what was in the containers, OR can safely pour it down the drain, it belongs in this container. Please remember caps to any containers must be off and containers must be rinsed. Trash bags are not accepted, so you must empty the recyclables out of the bags.
Aluminum cans continue to go into a separate container.
PAPER RECYCLING: You can put the following items in the Anything that rips container. All newspaper and news print, magazines, paperback books, all office paper, all thin- walled cardboard such as cereal boxes, tissues boxes etc. Please continue to recycle paper- it is the easiest item to recycle and is the largest total volume of our waste.
What can not go in the Anything that rips container?
Plastics, waxed paper or corrugated cardboard. Food contaminated paper or cardboard should not be included. Pizza boxes can not be recycled.
GLASS: should be placed only in the glass container. This does not include, light bulbs, ceramic dishes, plate glass,window panes, mirrors or drinking glasses. Unbroken florescent bulbs must be placed in a separate container in the building.
USED MOTOR OIL: In order to recycle it must be clean, free of water, gasoline, lacquer, or other solvents and in containers, 2 gallons or less. Please label "used oil for recycling" Please see attendant who must empty these containers.
WHAT IS NOT RECYCLED - Alkaline batteries are not recycled at this time.
The Bartlett/Jackson Transfer Station will be charging the following fees for disposal of the following items as of July 11, 2005

CD players, Stereo Receivers, Tape Deck Players,VCRS, DVD Players: $5.00
CPU’s, Printers, Scanners, Faxes: $5.00
Microwave Ovens: $5.00
Monitors (less than 17”): $5.00
(greater than 17”): $10.00
TV’s (less than 19”): $5.00
(20” to 27”): $10.00
(28” to 38”): $20.00
Other electronics: $5.00 to $50.00
Stuffed furniture: $10.00
Automobile tires (16” or less): $2.00
Truck tires (17” to 20”): $5.00
Industrial tires, commercial trucks: $10.00

See Attendant before dumping any of the above items.
CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL CONTAINER - Painted and treated lumber, sheetrock , asphalt shingles, and other construction material from small maintenance or addition jobs must be deposited here. NO ASBESTOS MATERALS or FIBERGLASS insulation. The attendant has the right to refuse large or over-sized material.
Please Note: If the construction job is of sufficient size, it is required that a dumpster be hauled to the job site and later hauled to a landfill lat the expense of the owner.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY.
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS MUST BE HELD BY THE HOME OWNER AND TAKEN TO THE CONWAY TRANSFER STATION ON HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY. Watch the newspaper for details.
PROHIBITED MATERIALS - Hazardous waste, Motor Vehicles, Boats, Explosives, Gas , Paints, Liquid Asphalt, Pesticides, Household Chemicals, antifreeze, Railroad Ties and Telephone poles
Please see the attendant before dumping construction debris, burnables, or metals or if you have any questions.
PLANET AID DONATION BOX
Planet Aid accepts donations of men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, shoes and accessories, as well as blankets, bedspreads, sheets, towels, curtains and fabric. All items should be bagged. No wet items should be placed inside the box.
